Burns Night - An Alternate Metaverse Tradition 

Burns Night 2023 on the Aurora II Luxury Liner

 

Burns Night Festivities included Poetry, History and Addressing the Haggis by Clan Escotia followed by an unforgettable Live Performance By Clan & his band "The Clan"

The Aurora II's Elegance Ballroom was packed with tartan clad ...and not...residents and visitors 

who enjoyed a hearty heaping helping of Haggis as well as good company, great music and lots of dancing! Burns Night ended with a fun packed 3 hour long Karaoke event hosted by Crystal Star, Cliff Hanger & Cataplexia Numbers...what a night to remember!

 

An Historic Look at the Aquatic Christmas Parade

It seems as though the parade was a good time had by all, or at last that is what the feedback was to me! Everyone showed up with AMAZING boats. Cliff and Chris loaded the boats onto a scripted "track," and without physics being a consideration, we had some FINE BOATS! McCracken's boat came in at over 200 prims. :D I believe mine came in at about 175 prims. It was like gluing macaroni on things - just great fun! 

We did the first round at a slower speed, then Cliff and Chris loaded them again and sped up the track. THAT was GREAT fun! As my greeter cyborg alt, Non Binary, flew around viewing the boats so I could make the commentary, she got close to the Dinkie Steamboat. She said that rowdy bunch threw a bottle of rum at her! I told her that they were just offering her a celebratory drink! 

The boats are still on display at MetaSea. You should go take a look...you know...for inspiration for next year!

The Last Day of Winterfest

Winterfest is always a glorious event in AMV. I was lucky enough to find AMV shortly before Winterfest, and the experience played a large part in researching and deciding to become an active resident! We had so many great events, including a Christmas Tree decorating contest - where I decided to be the ornament on the top of my own tree!

The Winterfest Marketplace was beautifully done and was a center of many activities for the Dinkie Community, as well as a performing location for many of our wonderful performers!

There will be free pizza and beer. The entire event takes place at MetaSea, and I cannot encourage you enough to go and explore the region!

Happy Anniversary, Aurora II! --- Xenon Darrow

December is such a CRAZY month here at AMV! Last weekend, we had the 3rd year birthday for the grid. On the 18th, we have the 1st Annual Aquatic Christmas Parade . After that, it's time for AMV 
Winterfest.

But today, we celebrate the first anniversary of the Aurora II on the SevenSeas region, AMVs full size magnificent luxury liner, setting sail for parts known and unknown all day every day! The party started early with the focus on our resident dinkies! Did you know we have a region devoted to dinkies? It's called Funsize Dinkies World Resort! Go get a dinkie and join in the fun! 

There is still time to come and celebrate on the Aurora II! In fact, feel free to book a cabin and stay the night or longer! We always love to see you here.

A Glorious Birthday Celebration and Experience; Raffle for the Aquatic Parade!

What a lovely region Chris McCracken and Ted Junior created for the AMV 3rd Birthday celebration. Personally, I truly hope the region is converted to another use with the same elements as opposed to being taken down and stored. It is absolutely lovely. 

The entertainment was spectacular, and the attendance was exemplary! It was a true celebration, and the spirit of community was definitely present. What is up next? We are well into the build period for the First Annual Aquatic Christmas Parade! And there is still time to register and parctipate! To sweeten the deal, AMV is sponsoring a $40 USD raffle to a lucky team via drawing! The winnings may be collected as USD via Paypal or as Gloebits -winners' choice. Step on up! 

Boats will need to be submitted to Clifford Hanger by Dec 15th. No driving required, so drink as much of that free beer as you want! That makes decorating much easier as well. Regarding animations - remember, it is a moderate region, so be sure and remove those adult animations! One wrong click...and your avie's reputation could be ruined (or enhanced - it's a judgement call). We are working on creating some poseballs that have low or no lag animations. And you should be able to use your own. 

Because there is no sailing, physics in decorating are not a concern. Currently, there is no prim limit...but please, that is not a challenge! Don't make me make a rule! 😁

Alternate Metaverse Aquatic Christmas Parade

As the birthday celebration is winding down, we are well on our way into our first holiday boat parade! The AMV Aquatic Christmas Parade will take place on December 18 at MetaSea! The registration and building / decorating period began on December 1st and will continue to December 15. 

There are several great ways to participate! You may build and/or decorate a boat! We have boats provided, as well as many resources for decorations. It is also a BYOB event - Bring Your Own Boat! 

You can find out everything you need at the website for the parade (form removed). Be sure and fill out the registration form. You can also register your team - it doesn't just have to be you! Bring your family and friends; make new ones! 

Your boats and decorations need to be fully transferable. The boats will be handed off to Clifford Hanger. They will run on a script; no driving necessary! (We don't want you to have to worry about having an extra free beer.) 😃 Just enjoy yourself, look amazing, and wave to the crowd! 

There are boxes of boats and resources at MetaSea - at the welcome center and the boat launch. The slurls are provided on the website. 

And of course, another great way to participate is to come and watch the parade! Cheer, drink beer and eat pizza provided to you compliments of Alternate Metaverse, and most of all - have fun with friends and family. Feel free to contact me, Xenon Darrow. Happy Birthday, AMV!

Today was the start of the AMV Birthday celebration! This resident is proud to say that every positive comment from the OpenSim World survey is completely true. AMV is an incredible example of three years of superlative technical expertise, beautiful building and production, powerful planning, and loving community building. 

The celebration opened with a Town Hall meeting on the AMV Birthday region, built specially for the occasion. The region represents another stellar creative effort by Ted Junior and Chris McCracken. Chris and Ted are two of the best builders on the hypergrid - that is my personal experience having been on the grid for a year now and spending a great deal of time checking out other creative efforts across grids. We are truly fortunate to have them. Mayor Taffy Starr was inaugerated, and trust me, everyone was excited! Taffy is most definitely a bright and shining star for our grid.

The first event following the Town Hall  was Elf Dream Storytelling with Yichard Muni at the beautiful Garden Of Journies. It was my first time to get to attend this event, and it was very enjoyable. Relaxing with friends in an idyllic setting, listening to tales of far off lands - there is just not a better way to spend the afternoon.

The Storytelling was followed by a series of live performances including Clan's Band with Clan Escotia, and Harper & Sum. AMV has some of the top resident live performers around. 

The night is ending with a Blues in the Attic set with live dj. There is STILL time to make the party! And we will be here all weekend! Check out the line up at the AMV website. And maybe it's that time to make your AMV avie and check out the lifestyle here. Most of all - just come celebrate!
